"Night, the beloved. Night, when words fade and things come alive. When the destructive analysis of day is done, and all that is truly important becomes whole and sound again. When man reassembles his fragmentary self and grows with the calm of a tree." -Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

"Perhaps I am doomed to retrace my steps under the illusion that I am exploring, doomed to try and learn what I should simply recognize, learning a mere fraction of what I have forgotten." -André Breton

Photographer's Statement: These photographs were taken in 2008 during an extended stay in Nepal. I decided to photograph Kathmandu at night because, as far as I know, it had not been done before. Almost all of these photos were taken without flash, using only existing light.

"I have forced myself to contradict myself in order to avoid conforming to my own taste." -Marcel Duchamp
